Well the most important news is covered on the main page and on the Vapor site. In addition I encourage you to visit Tim Scanlin's tribute page for Richie. Thanks for putting that together Tim. I wanted to do something along those lines for the site but my ISP service doesn't allow enough flexibility for such things.

Just a few more items to bring you up to date on what has transpired in the past couple of weeks while the site has been silent. Richie's ashes were scattered over the ocean in a small ceremony for family and friends. In addition, this past weekend there was a memorial gathering at Steve Hadley's house. Other than that there is little to report. Vapor has released a promo radio edit of "Wonderful World" (something orginally scheduled for July 24th)

I spoke to Richie briefly yesterday and found out a couple of things. First and foremost is that Steve Hadley has taken leave of the band. No clarification as to whether it's a permanent absence yet. In the meantime the drumming duties have been taken over by Steve Goodfriend of the Radar Bros. More information should follow after the Chicago show Wednesday.

A short series of shows in NewYork as well as a couple more dates out East have been announced.

2/19/01
The band has announced a series of dates on the West Coast in support of The North Mississippi Allstars. Details are on the Acetone Live page. If the sound is anything like the set they recently did at KUCI expect a much more rocking band then you may have seen in the past few years. The sound hearkens back to the raw edge of their live shows from the Cindy era, but with the added organ (and years of experience) they get an even fuller sound.

York Blvd. hit the streets today, so head out and get a copy. All of the information has been added to the Acetone Discography. The sound is very much a logical progression from the last LP. A little louder at times, a little smoother others. They'll be playing at the Fold on February 1st, so folks in the LA-area should head out.

I got my hands on the retailer info on York Blvd. The information has been added to the
Acetone Discography. The Vapor buzzline is:

"College radio and underground rock favorite Acetone elevates its flowing textures, spare eloquence and street-level indie credibility to create the L.A. band's most accomplished album to date, York Blvd. Acetone's second album on Vapor Records, York Blvd. is the culmination of the group's unique synthesis of its art-school and garage band origins--as if Nirvana was being channeled through the Velvet Underground."

A quick chat with Vapor finds the new album release date pushed back to next year. Look for York Blvd. to be in stores on January 16th. I'll have a full report shortly. Also, watch for a copy of one of the new tracks here soon.

Vapor has announced a release date for Acetone's new album, York Blvd. It'll hit the streets October 17th. Here's what they have to say about it: "Words don't seem to do the album justice -- it's epic and beautiful. With this album, the guys have taken their music to a whole other level..."

Along with this news come the first of what promise to be quite a few tour dates. A show at the Troubadour in L.A. on October 4th to be followed the next night by a show in L.A. Get out there and support them.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I haven't had any news in ages. Sorry, but it's been a busy summer and there hasn't been much communication from the band. I did get a brief email from Richie though. New manager for the band. New record ready to come out in October. Fairly lengthy tour by the end of the year. More info as I pull it out of 'em.

It's been a bit quiet here in the new century, but things are on the move. The band has been in the studio recording the new album with Eric Sarafin engineering (Ben Harper, Spearhead, Brand New Heavies, The Pharcyde) From what I'm told, most of the new stuff is pretty rocking. They are wrapping things up with the recording aspects and should be moving on to the mastering in the next month or so. The target release is for September.

The band has also been playing out each Monday in March at the Opium Den as part of Zeke's Backyard. They wrap it up tonight at 10:30. Word is that audio and video may show up at a later date as a webcast courtesy of Vapor Records. Stay tuned for more info. And news on other dates.
